MICHEL ALEXANDRE TASCHEREAU JULY 26, 1932 JANUARY 22, 2010 Peacefully, after a short illness, Michel Alexandre passed away at the age of seventy-seven years. Beloved son of Charles Taschereau and Camille (‘Mimi’) Leduc. He leaves his cousins, Louis and Simone (Jacques Bernier) Taschereau, Louis Gélinas, Nicole and Élaine (Christian Tanguay) Leduc, Jacques (Chantale Sabourin), Lyne and Suzanne (Jacques Labelle) Laurin, several godchildren and many life-long friends. A well-known and prominent antique dealer for many years in Montreal, Toronto and Boston, his impeccable classical taste is reflected in the homes of his numerous clients and friends, by whom he will be sadly missed. A member of an old and distinguished Quebec family, his ancestors include his grandfather, Louis-Alexandre Taschereau, Premier of Quebec 1920-1936; his uncle, Robert Taschereau, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada and his great great uncle, Elzéar-Alexandre Taschereau, Canada’s first Cardinal, (often referred to with his sharp wit as ‘my grandfather the Cardinal’), as well as, much earlier, many notables in Touraine during the ancien regime in France. Special thanks go to his caregivers Isabelle Lortie and John Howard and to Louise Jobin of Chateau Westmount and especially to those dear friends who were so devoted to him until the end. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, February 2nd, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension of Our Lord, 375 Kitchener (corner of Sherbrooke), H3Z 2G1, in Westmount. The family will receive condolences from 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the spring at the Belmont Cemetery in Quebec City. Details to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Montreal Heart Institute Foundation 5000 Belanger Street, Montreal (Quebec) H1T 1C8. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Centre funéraire Côte-des-Neiges, 514 342-8000.
