Sheila Moore died gracefully, after a battle with cancer, on January 2, 2013. She leaves husband, Mark Goldman; aunt Beryl Goldman; stepdaughter, Rachel Goldman (Sam – Jamie and Brenden Sabloff); god- daughters, Elia Duchesne, Alex (Libby) Flynn (Dan and sons Jonah and Simon Liebu) and Sara Levine (Gil, Riel and Mica Regev); sister-in-law, Marcy Goldman; nephews Jonathan, Gideon, Benjamin; brother-in-law Lorne Goldman (Audrey Morris); niece, Natasha (Patrick); nephews, Jordan and Nathan; cousins, Stan, Anita and Zack. From Winnipeg: Georgie Hodges; Peter Baynton; Sheila and Avril Mochoruk, Jill Patrick, Fran Booth Jean Duczminski and brother Arthur.

Sheila was an indomitable and courageous person who lived her life in accord with her strong social values. She grew up in rural Manitoba where she developed her love of gardening, animals and the outdoors. She completed her secondary education in the UK, her mother’s homeland, before returning to Canada and taking a job with the Manitoba Government. She worked in Regina, Winnipeg, and Montreal as a producer for the CBC and then as the Director of Communications for Alliance Quebec. She returned to Toronto as as a senior policy advisor in the Ministry of Intergovernmental Affairs and a policy advisor to then Ontario premier Bob Rae. In 2000, she was appointed as the director of communications for the McGill University Health Centre where she was responsible for all communications for the MUHC’s six hospitals, from which she retired in 2009. She loved art, theatre and music, cherished the company of family and friends, all of whom have sat at her dinner table and enjoyed her passion for cooking. She possessed a creative and inquiring mind that engaged her in politics, good books, and great, animated discussions.

Sheila received exceptional care at Centre Hospitalier Antoine Labelle and CLSC Labelle. Memorial service will be 2 pm on Friday January 11, Collins Clarke MacGillivray White Funeral Home, 5610 Sherbrooke St. West, Montreal.
