Anthony Shine (Tony)
December 18, 1930 – December 17, 2024
Anthony (Tony) Julian Shine passed away on Dec. 17, 2024, one day shy of his 94th birthday. Son of Lionel and Lea and brother of Tamar and Berry, he was born in London, England before his family moved to Montreal. He graduated from McGill University’s School of Architecture and followed this up with a degree in Town Planning at the London School of Architecture. As a founding partner of Bland, LeMoyne, Shine, he designed airports and buildings around the world. Tony was married to his best friend and life companion, Ruth Walzer, for 59 years. They enjoyed a love of travel, art, and culture and truly thrived during winters in San Miguel de Allende where they connected with a community of friends that shared their passions. He leaves behind his beloved wife, children Adam (Brigitte Roy) and Manita, and grandkids Zachary, Abigail, Gabrielle, Lucca, and Zoe who cherished time with their Opa in Montreal, Mexico, and during many years at the cottage in Montgomery, VT where he observed nature and built up his collection of sketches. We thank those who assisted him in the last few months, in particular staff at the MUHC and Saint Margaret Residential Centre. For funeral details, please consult Paperman & Sons.
