Planetair is proud to announce that it is supplying offsets for the National Hockey League Players’ Association’s (NHLPA) Carbon Neutral Challenge for the 2007-2008 season. The Challenge is the largest player-driven initiative in the North American professional sports world to tackle global warming. It is a joint activity of the NHL players, the NHLPA and the David Suzuki Foundation, and shows that NHL players want to take the lead in doing something real about global warming
The Challenge gives players the opportunity to take responsibility for the climate impact of their regular and pre-season activities and go carbon neutral. It’s entirely voluntary; each player decides for himself if he wants to participate. At the midway point of the tour and after hearing about the initiative from NHLPA Executive Director Paul Kelly and Eric Lindros on their fall tour to the NHL teams, more than 350 players had already signed up.
The emissions calculations were conducted by the David Suzuki Foundation, which is acting as the official NGO partner for the Challenge.
