MACAULAY, Ian Hamish

Ian Hamish Macaulay (known as Hamish) was born in the UK on July 18, 1936, and died on February 18, 2023, spending his final years in Thailand with his son. He is survived by his two children Ian D. Hamish served his two years of UK National Service as a ‘red beret’ paratrooper before coming to McGill University for his commerce degree and was an active member of the Zeta Psi Fraternity which granted him many lifelong friends. Hamish was a resident of Montreal since the 1960s and worked as a financial advisor with a focus on mining companies.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and summers in North Hatley on Lake Massawippi. His interests included politics, reading, downhill skiing, the outdoors, and rock and mountain climbing. Climbing took him to many diverse parts of the world, including Nepal, China, and the NW Territories.
For donations in his memory please consider the charity Blue Massawippi whose mission is to protect the lake that was so important to him.
